Looking for good quality military surplus for a .308 M1 Garand. I heard the Aussie stuff is good. Anyone know of a good online source?

Also, how do you think it would compare to this stuff:

It's new production, but the "For Training Only" kinda worries me...
Thanks!

I hear the Portuguese is great too...Can't find any Port or Aussie .308 on the internet. :(

Surplus ammo is cyclical. Sometimes there is a great selection of really good stuff, other times there is a poor selection at high prices. Right now the only real deal in .308 in my opinion is the South African. There is also some Malaysian out there that is decent. The Argentine is good ammo but looks to have had some storage issues. If you just want to blast it then it's fine.

There are two solutions to this. The first is to reload, that way you have more ammo options. The second is to buy massive quantities of good ammo when it is available. I'm not talking a case, I mean ten cases, fifteen etc.....good ammo, well stored will last a LONG time. No reason not to have a bunch on hand.

S.O.G. has some listed. Here's a link. It works great in my 03A3 in .308. Clean and accurate and I can't imagine that it wouldn't work fine in an M1.

That Federal looks pretty good (I know, looks can be deceiving), and it has the advantage of being reloadable. If you try it, let us know.
Good luck,
RT
