I went to the Saxet gunshow in Austin today. I usually try to hit it every couple of months, if nothing else, for a good chuckle, and to maybe pick up some ammo or accesory that isn't available locally. I'm into milsurps, so that's mostly what I look at. Here's the highlights:

1. Saw a new WASR-10 (no muzzle brake or bayo lug), with a sign on it that simply said "AK-47 - $450". Yeah, right.

2. The Yugo SKS 59/66 that looked in fairly good shape, except some a-hole slapped a thick coat of polyurethane on the stock, without bothering to take the trigger group, receiver, barrel, etc. out of the stock before they applied it. The metal still had cosmo on it, so I bet there's a pound or two of it still in the wood, waiting to bubble out. The blond wood looked really good, until I saw that. Oh, and the price tag: $275.

3. The Yugo 59/66 SKS at another table, with a tag that said "really rare", $400.

4. Lots of jerky booths, and ahhh, the sweet sound of a stun gun being zapped over and over every 2-3 minutes or so.

Actually, it wasn't all bad, I picked up 500 rds for my SKS, 50 stripper clips, and another 100rds for the Mosin, cheap, so I can't complain. Anyone else go, and have any highlights? I'd love to hear them.
