Just poped over from the Black Powder Forum with a question.
One of my friends at the local club told me today about an Australian 'copy' of a No4 SMLE being made today. Although a bit vague he said that it was using Winchester .307 ammo and an M14 mag. Furniture is made of teak (?).
Anyone know about this or can give me a website with some info.
Cheers
Duncan

The rifle you are refering too is/was made by the Gibbs Rifle Co.. Don't know if they are still in business, the website is blank. Also made them in 45/70.

Oneshooter
Livin in Texas

Your booze is waiting for you to pick up.

Don't know about that Oneshooter but I remember reading an article in a UK mag last year about a new Jungle carbine version of the No: 6 made by the same company. From the way Alain was talking at the range today this was a new weapon so I will have to wait and see if he can come up with some more info.
If it were true it would make it ba Cat 5 weapon here in France which is easy to buy and shoot.

Cheers
Duncan.
ps. Don't think I will be passing your place this year but keep it handy just in case!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The new Aussie #5 looking carbine is supposed (you know what means) to be here in the US this year. Looks promising, as some will be .223, .308, and 7.62x39, SUPPOSIDLY. It's got some real possibilities, especially in .308 IMO.

Yeah, but I am still looking for the ones in .308 with the M14 mags. Those definitely need to come state side.
