Hey all, I have question that my brother and I have a discussion ongoing about knives. In general a auto-knife such as Pro-Tech's are legal or illegal in N.C.... Yes I've read the General Statutes, but am not a lawyer .... thanks for any help.

Define "legal."

Legal to own? Yes. There is no law against ownership, buying or selling them (beyond the federal law on selling over state lines). You cannot possess on school property.
Legal to carry? Openly, yes. Concealed, no. The statute on the carry of weapons only covers the concealed carry "except when the person is on the person's own premises" and covers other knife types besides switchblades.

Watch out for local city laws. They may restrict autos in ways state law does not.
