My brother's new rifle has constant FTF as in every clip and regularly every 5-6 rounds. Any experience with this problem? Wish I could do some minor work to the ramp and replace the spring. Seems a shame to ship it to the manufacturer, but it sounds like one of those....:banghead:

I assume here that you are referring to an M1 Carbine, not an M1 rifle...??
If so, then I'd suggest first sticking with ball ammo until you ID the problem.
Many carbine magazines are prone to causing feed problems. Bent feed lips are the usual culprit. Try several different mags with good ball ammo. Look closely at the ones that feed well, then compare with the ones that don't and bend the lips to match.

I had similar problems. I was also using Wolf ammo during the break in. It's tough to isolate because it could be a) the ammo b) the magazines or c) the gun. Has he cleaned it yet? I will say this, once I switched to Remington FMJ at the range, the problems pretty much went away.

I am assuming that FTF means Fail To Fire. What exactly is happening? My AO M1 works fine with all (12) of the USGI 15 round mags and Wolf ammo. I have 1 of 3 30 round non USGI mags that work, the other 2 will hang up feeding. As far as function, mine goes bang every time a cartridge gets chambered. Ejection is excellant. I have around 300 rounds through mine, and it functions better each time it goes out to the range. I still consider it in the break in phase too.

Sounds like Failure to feed to me.
Check the magazine to be sure the spring is not installed backwards.
No shame in shipping a gun back to the manufacturer, best do that before you modify anything.
Quicker you send it, the quicker they'll replace it or solve the problem.
These guns aren't cheap, they could be retailed for about half the MSRP I've seen quoted. The manufacturer should stand by their product or get out of the business.
