Anyone know if the new model Carbine from AutoOrdnance will fit into the reproduction paratrooper stocks out there?

My son is on a "Band of Brothers" thing but he's not big enough to shoot a Garand yet. I think he can handle the .30 Carbine.

I would like to get him one of these and I am wondering if the para stocks work with this new design.

I don't have any reason to suspect it WOULDN'T work, but thought maybe someone had done it already.

Thanks as always!

If you're not a total stickler for authenticity, you can get the collapsing wire buttstocks for the carbine.

I almost bought a Plainfield carbine with wire collapsing stock at the Austin gunshow for $325. It's not as authentic as the Para stock, but should cost a whole lot less than $199. There's at least one up on Gunbroker now.

I kinda like wire stocks, they remind me of the collapsing-stock HK G3.

Just tossing out an idea, it's _possible_ that a little amateur tinkering could add notches to the collapsing stock to set it for different lengths, not just "full out" or "full in", which might make it easier to size the stock to your boy. From what I saw of one, the release button just slips into a notch in the wire, nothing too tricky.

If you end up doing that, post some pics, they're way-cool. If CMP does indeed start bringing in M1 Carbines, as wild rumors say, I'll be hunting down a collapsing stock most ricky-tick.

No, he's 10. Authenticity isn't a big deal, thats why I am not looking at buying a genuine war relic for him.

Cheap and close enough will do :)

Does the SAXET show come through your town?

Mostly kidding, the odds of finding the same rifle are pretty slim.

Plainfield made a wooden furniture set with wire collapsing stock and wooden vertical foregrip. Saw one guy who bought one at the Austin show, and he directed me to the table where they were selling the Plainfield in the synthetic stock with collapsing wire. Not sure on Plainfield quality, but it's got to be better than the Universal clones.

I believe ATI made the synthetic collapsible-wire stock. Could drop that on a Kahr or any used shooter M1 from a show or online auction. Still think it would be nifty to add notches for different LOP settings.

Should be a fun toy for... um, for your boy. Yeah, that's it, just thinking of the kid. Gotta do it for the children and stuff.

Now I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn't pick up that Plainfield for myself, but I'll feel better when TejasGunwerks finishes up my Dissipator AR-15 carbine. That will certainly fill the EBR void in my soul.

My hat's off to you, that's one lucky kid there.

He's a good kid and he seems to "get it" so I don't mind.

Plus, any toy that Dad can play with now and then doesn't hurt when Mom asks "how much did that cost?"

MatthewVanitas understands it seems :)

Little bit of both....
