^ You said it. I have much respect for those who'd much rather read an actual book than waste their leisure time in other pursuits, i.e., video games, mindless television, etc. Sadly, in years to come, our youth may never know what treasures libraries are ….

When I was a kid, you could walk into the hardware store and come out with a rifle, ammo, ten sticks of dynamite, cord, and detonators. You had to look reasonably close to sixteen to get .22 ammo, 18 for any other caliber, and needed to be 21 and have a licence for the dynamite, though... And no, that was not the US of A.

I remember the day Kennedy died, and later the scream of F104s doing low passes above our town, before climbing steeply and come back with a sonic Booom that rattled our windows.

Had my first kid at 50, which allowed me to do tons of things in life without too many worries, and I still guide big game safaris where one spends a week or three walking and clambering ten to fifteen miles every day over rough terrain, with hunting load.

In town, I now see effete, man-bunned things looking and behaving like tall bearded females, and often wonder what will be of these the day when SHTF big time, as it is bound to happen during their lifetime... It seems that it's about half the Western population now, gosh, they'll have a hard time, poor things.

I'm grateful everyday that my kids can grow in a world where there are still only two types of bathrooms, and no confusion about who gets to stand and who gets to sit to pee.

I agree completely. But it does seem a bit odd to be part of a debate between a bunch guys on an internet forum that so far is helmed by 40+ year old men.

I was about 10 mons. old when Kennedy was assassinated. Can't say I remember that though. By now the sun was suppose to have burned up wasn't it? :D
Actually we were supposed to all freeze to death first. Then it was burn to death. Now we’re just supposed to be afraid of a changing climate. Maybe when I’m 60 Pluto will be a planet again.

37, hair starting to thin out up top, grey hairs starting to present themselves in my beard, people don't bother trying to guess my age, they view me as a grumpy old guy already.

I rarely see a divide of opinion concerning firearms use and safety among our members that can be attributed to age. We have a diverse membership but I have no idea what our average or median age is. IMO, it tilts towards the grey hairs but then a specific topic comes up and I realize that there are a lot of younger shooters out there. So, I am posting a poll to see what our age breakdown is. This is not a public poll so your answer is random. If you wish to add a comment about your age, please do. This is mainly a data collecting poll.

Larry- This is very enlightening. I think there is another subset buried in here. I don't know how to post a poll, but I submit....how many on this forum, by age groups listed in the above poll, would breakdown range time by primarily shooting handguns, long guns, or both.

I know most have both, but which do you shoot the most....long gun, (includes shotgun) handgun, or both pretty much equally, by age group.

I think (oh oh watch out here) younger folks trend toward handguns, older folks shoot both, older folks whose eyesight has let them down, trend back toward handguns.

72 yrs so far. I vaguely remember seeing Ike on television, knew he was the president but that was all. Went to a one room country school where there was kindergarten through 8th grade. If I remember correctly there were about 18 or 20 of us in that school. We had a Coast To Coast hardware store in town and the Lugers and P-38 pistols on display for less than $50 but back then that was pretty big money for a poor farm kid. I had an Argentine Mauser that cost a bit less than $20.00 and I could buy a pack of 10 rounds I believe for $1.00.

I shot long guns 90 percent of the time or more until I was in my 20s. Then I went to handguns. Simply hunting and varmint hunting was the reason why I used long guns so much. I'd say I split 50/50 since then

Almost 62, filled out the application for Social Security a few weeks ago. Retired but still working part time. I'll probably NEVER truly stop working unless health issues come up.

Wow.

Old enough to remember a barrel full of .310 Martinis in Kaufman's surplus store on one of the blocks in Manhattan they later built the World Trade Center on, $11 each.

Young enough to still ride motorcycles fast, on and off road.

"Oh, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now."

Picked 30ish. I'm 28 now

If you ask my girlfriend I'm 28 going on 50.

Two of my good friends ,their significant others and my brother and I are a really close,we're a tight group of pals and have been for years. I'm 2-3 years older than them and have always been the "responsible / mature one" of the group, not that means much with some of the antics we have done so it's all relative I guess.... But it's earned me the nick name of "Dad" ... LOL. Now that I have a little one it's more fitting, but none the less it's my "name"

Old enough for my age eligibility first vote ever for President of the United States to be for Barry Goldwater in 1964. Had to vote via absentee ballot because I was serving in the U.S. Air Force at the time; far, far away from home. I still believe that this was the most influential and critical election of my time; considering the amount of American blood spilled in vain for a cause never addressed correctly militarily and American treasure squandered in the billions in the cause of an illusionary promise of a "Great Society", carried on the backs of middle class tax payers for decades to come.
The bullets that ended the Presidency of John F. Kennedy and gave an unnatural and unholy birth to the Presidency of Lyndon Baines Johnson were bullets that ended up taking the lives of thousands of young Americans for no reason whatsoever, except for salvaging the exaggerated ego of a President wielding "power beyond reason".
