For the benefit of those with slow connections, I've converted the image to .JPG format and resized it to 800x600.

BIG?? ....... I'll say ! No wonder - it's a BMP!! All 9 Meg and more!

Just outa interest ... here is a crop and save in JPG format (resized and about 18:1 compression) .. a mere ''tiny'' 46k!!!:) Bit of a difference eh!?

Thanks for posting that pic. Now I know I've been wearing my ear plugs incorrectly all this time.:D

That first one is definitely a photoshop.
Not so sure ... tho some ''tweaks'' have probably been applied.

The depth of field was bothering me but .. looking at the spotting scope's perspective etc .. makes me think this was probably a super-wide lens ... not quite a fisheye. Otherwise it'd have to have been a rising front plate camera.

I think it is genuine but tweaked ... my 2c.

nope. as P95 mentioned, a wide angle lens was used.

the photographer also used a little "fill flash" (not attatched to the camera)
to highlight the shooter only.
this is why his watch and his right hand fingers are highlighted, and the inside of the flash suppresor is illuminated.
