also massive voter fraud on the Indian reservations, republicans ran a fundie mormon candidate IOW a perfect "storm".

republicans ran a fundie mormon candidate IOW a perfect "storm"

This illustrates why I think it would be more productive for serious libertarians to work to get better candidates before the voters in existing parties, than to have our comfy little LP clique and get 1% of the vote every election.

As well as the affront to citizens keeping their weapons
in times of emergency, she gives the nod for illegals to
get away with breaking the law without fear of the cops,
and the cops in two areas support it ! From the link
the author of the thread suppiled..
Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano vetoed a slew of Republican-approved bills Monday, including a National Rifle Association-backed gun bill and one that looks to have local police arrest illegal immigrants on trespassing charges.

Napolitano, a Democrat, nixed the trespassing bill, citing opposition to the idea from local law enforcement, including police unions and Phoenix and Chandler police.

Same way John McCain did. Two peas in a pod.

I read red herrings here, old gripes against Napolitano, but it sounds to me like she did the right thing.

Please explain.

I have a hard time understanding why a veto was the right thing.

She vetoed two bills, the illegal trespass, and the Katrina style restrictions, and signed two, a techinacal change to CCW for retired peace officers under the new national act, and elimination of the requirement for a renewal course for CCW holders, plus recognition of every other states' CCW permits.
We will try again on the first two.
Napalitano got elected because we like our legislature to be at cross purposes - keeps them from doing anything to drastic....

Real nice....A "government OF THE local law enforcement, including police unions and Phoenix and Chandler police, BY THE local law enforcement, including police unions and Phoenix and Chandler police, AND FOR the local law enforcement, including police unions and Phoenix and Chandler police.

Just what the Founders envisioned.
Just great.

How did she ever get elected in Arizona?
Her Republican opponent, who I believe was much more qualified to be governor, ran a poor campaign. Napolitano was a popular state Attorney General, but her opponent thought he could just show up and smirk at debates, as if it were a foregone conclusion that Arizona would vote Republican for governor.

Napolitano didn’t get my vote.

You're confusing the border bill with the gun bill. Her reasons for not signing the anti-Katrina confiscation bill according to the .pdf on the AzLegisature web page

Here is the bill. Read down to Para J for the sole addition.

Here is her response.

You see, the confiscations happened in far away New Orleans, after a hurricane. Governor Napolitano rightly points out that there has never been a hurricane in Arizona, therefore, the law protecting RKBA in a state of emergency is unneeded.

Indeed, the Governor advises that the law would prevent the movement of a foot locker full of shotgun shells which are in the path of a raging 400,000 acre forest fire.

Do you have any idea what several boxes of shotgun shells can do to a raging forest fire? Horrific. She just had to veto this thing for our own good when forest fires rage through the least populated regions of Arizona, 100 miles away from Phoenix the 4-million citizens in metro Phoenix.

Well that does make sense..And how does she respond
to the illegal alien/police issue veto ? She doesn't want
them moved either ?

I do give her credit for the CCW reform bill she's just signed.

I have only been to Arizona once in my life. However it was within the last 2 years. I understand her logic about no hurricanes so hurricanes being a moot point. But the logic she uses for a forest fire? I do not seem to remember large forests in Arizona. So her logic is that since we wont have hurricanes she doesnt need the bill because we might have a forest fire and it could be bad even though this is unlikely as we have no forests for a forest fire.

Sorry about the run on sentence. Its 3:20 AM

If I am wrong please tell me but I seem to remember a lot of catcus and beautiful deserts. Nothing more really.

LOL well there is the petrified forest

but that hasn't been wood for a million years.

but there are plenty woods in northern AZ

Napolitano makes no sense at all

Here is the addition:

J. Pursuant to the second amendment of the United States Constitution and article II, section 26, of the Constitution of Arizona and notwithstanding the other provisions of this section or any other provision of law, the emergency powers of the governor, the adjutant general or any other official or person shall not be construed to allow the imposition of additional restrictions on the lawful possession, transfer, sale, transport, carrying, storage, display or use of firearms or ammunition or firearms or ammunition components.

I don't see how this is "broader than the  Katrina incident."

She also said she won't take away any firearms, before going on to give an ammo ban hypo . .

I understand her logic about no hurricanes so hurricanes being a moot point.

Hurricanes have nothing to do with the bill. It is the "state of emergency" which can be called for many other reasons.

Let's try to stay on topic.

Rick

I am happy to report that my uber-lefty anti-gun sister is leaving AZ and moving to CO. One less moonbat in the state.

She used to be ok with firearms, owned a 10/22 and went shooting periodically. The minute she became a public school teacher and joined the union she did a quick 180 and wants them all banned.

My condolences to any CO THR types :neener:
