When did our military retire the BAR? Did any of our military use this gun after Korea?

I've talked to two MAC/V guys that carried a BAR as an adviser and as a strike team member. I've seen newsreel footage of a US Green Beret carrying a BAR in a combat zone.

The BAR was a lend/lease weapon that was given to US Allies. Officially I think it was retired before 1960 in front line use.
