I don't have large hands, but I find the tiny Kel-tecs have crossed the line, past the point of diminishing returns, in gun-handling. A "back-up" gun may have to be used in extreme conditions, when it is impossible to get a sight picture. I don't trust myself to hit anything with a Kel-tec, or for that matter, any of those micro revolvers, unless I can use two hands, and see the sights. Something about the Seecamp makes it work for me, perhaps the greater width stabilizes it in my hand. The Seecamp also points well for me, shooting where I am looking.
My usual minimum firearm is a Ruger SP101 snubby, though I have a couple of J-frames for the few times the SP101 is too large to hide. At work, in police uniform, I always have an SP101 snubby on my person, as a "back-up" gun. (My "primary" duty pistol is a SIG P229, personally owned.) On my own time, just about the only time I don't have an SP101 on my person is when I elect to carry two P229 pistols.
Just to be clear, I usually do indeed pack "heavy" on my own time. I live in a small city notable for low personal crime and fast police response time, but to the near west, in a big city, is an enclave of Katrina evacuees, among them thugs who move about in heavily-armed groups, and to the near northwest, in the same big city, is an enclave of immigrants from south of the border, and while mostly peaceful themselves, there are heavily-armed gangs among them. There are three places designated as "critical infrastructure" quite close to me, plus an Israeli consulate, which I pass closely on a daily basis. This is not Mayberry. Your mileage may vary.
