Money to burn--what handgun to buy?

I agree, you need a .45ACP. Get a new S&W 625JM revolver... they are a new limited version of the regular 4" 625-8, but come with hardchromed trigger & hammer, Jerry Miculek-style wood stock, and an easily changed gold-bead front sight - all for an MSRP just $50 over the stock version. I love mine.

You can buy a set of Lee dies and reloading supplies - even some extra moonclips - with the leftover moola. The 625 is an N-framed big bore with very little recoil with standard .45 ACP fare - and, you can buy ammo anywhere, should you run low on a weekend.

Yes, you are right, your handgun collection is quite incomplete!

All you need is:
- One 1911. Best bets are mentioned by Ala Dan.
- One 357. May I suggest an older 686-5.

Best of luck!

The M1911 is very friendly to left-handers. There are four controls -- trigger, slide lock, magazine release, and safety lock. The last is the only "right-handed" control (Left handers use the trigger finger to work the magazine release and slide lock and have a slight advantage.) The safety can be converted to ambidextrious.

The M1911 is also well-suited for conversion kits -- I have two, a Ciener and a Colt Service Ace.

Add a 28-lb Wolff recoil spring and matching firing pin return spring (less than $10) and you can shoot .45 Super -- and the gun will still function with full charge .45 ACP loads.

You should look at getting a nice 1911 I prefer Dan Wesson Pointman series, then you can get a Marvel .22 slide for it and have a economical target .22 also. My 2 cents. Or if you really want some fun, get a Taursus 454. Its a blast.

Easy Choice...

SEECAMP 32 anybody disagrees hasn't had one. This is a no-brainer.They are cheap as crap now and are pure gold to carry.99.77% correct according to my computer..... :)

A Glock 19 as an all around good 9mm. Or I'd buy a loaded SS Springfield Champion with night sights.

Mr. T:
Have you thought about a single action revolver such as a Ruger Blackhawk?

That's what I'm getting the next time I have a few hundred to blow. I just can't decide on the caliber, .357 or .45. :)

Looks like you have most of the bases covered EXCEPT....you seem to be lacking a mid barreled S&W. For shame! I would sugest either a nice 4" 686 to help shoot up the 38/357 you own or a 4"/5" 625 in 45 acp. Both guns are hard to beat and fill the void in your collection

Oh yea, be advised, once you try a 625, your going to start lusting for a 1911 to share ammo with :D
