I have a buddy of mine who is interested in a 9mm or 40 baby desert eagle. Has anyone ever had any experience with these? They do not seem to be very available at typical gun shops. What is the general thought on these?

Great gun, never heard anything bad about them. Had one for awhile but couldnt hit crap with it, so I sold it to a buddy. He loves it.

I have the full-sized steel model in 9mm, and think it is a great gun for the range and home defense. While I have heard of people carrying it, it is a heavy gun. This weight makes it a very soft shooter, and it's also very comfortable with the stock grips.

I am probably in the minority in liking the safety/decocker lever, though do agree that a place on the slide would be much better. The slide itself is a bit thin, and people may have trouble racking it because of less surface area to grab.

In my 1,000 rounds I've shot with it, I haven't had any problems at all. I highly recommend them, especially since they seem to be slightly different than the standard competitor (Glock 17, Beretta 92, etc.).

Oddly enough, the local Sportsman's Warehouse here in Southern AZ has abunch of Baby Eagles of various sizes on the pistol wall, more than they have G-rocks.

I've got the .45 ACP version. Like a previous poster stated, the frames and slides are made in Italy by Tanfoglio then shipped to Israel for fitting and finishing by IMI. They are great pistols. Mine is the most accurate .45 ACP I own. The pistols will use magazines made for Tanfoglio pistols so you can find good buys on Mec-Gar magazines at places like CDNN.

Fair warning - these are heavy pistols. Finding accessories like holsters can be a bit tough, too.

Bottom line - I really like mine!

I have 2 shooting buddies w/ B'Eagles, both in 9mm. The ergos of the gun are very good & from my limited experience, they're nice shooters. Both these guys really like these guns & shoot them often.

concur, great guns. i got one (jericho, same gun) in .40 that was practically NIB for $200 from a freind that got it a couple years earlier at a gunshow for (as i recall) around $320. i love it, it's one that i may never let go.
about those meggar mags at CDNN..... i got one a few months back, but it doesn't lock the slide back after the last round. it says .41AE on it, and CDNN advertises them as fitting both the 40 and 41. i recently saw some "witness" baby eagle mags there pretty cheap, been meaning to call for details.
i grabbed a mini-glock the other day at a store i haven't been to in a long time, and i noticed they had a couple baby eagles on special in the low $400's. odd, since one of my local dealers was recently telling me that they've been getting popular and more expensive.
GOOGLE "israeli jericho", and you'll get the whole story ( CZ copy, tangfoglio manufacture,etc.).

They are great guns. I had two. The primary reason I parted with them is the location of the decocker safety. I kept tripping it when racking the slide. The secondary reason is that CZ created my ideal handgun, the SP01.
