I took my baby rock 380 out to shoot, and for some reason the rounds in the magazine would be pushed down into the magazine and the slide would not feed the rounds. This happened to a brand new magazine and the original magazine that came with the gun.
Now I will admit was not fully loading the magazines, but this seems unacceptable to me.
Any one else ever have that problem?

The baby rock I recently acquired functioned fine with the magazine that came with it.

Unfortunately, the fit and feel while shooting it was uncomfortable so it's likely heading toward trade bait fairly quickly.

My baby rock needed some break in time. At 1st it didn't feed rounds reliably. After about 100 shots it ran perfect. My main beef with it. Was the 8lb trigger out of the box. I had to fix that lol. It's around 4lbs now.

apparently this has happened to other folks, ROCK ISLAND said they would send me a new slide stop, if that does not fix it , would have to send them the gun. Not sure why the slide stop would cause ammo to be jammed down in the magazine, both a brand new mag and the one that came with the gun but will see. At least the said to try the new slide stop. I have two 1911 45 acp, both a full size and commander size, a COLT 1911 38 super, and 9 mm, and never had anything like that happen before. I been shooting 1911s since I was 19, and never had anything like that happen. I have had mag failures before, but not where the ammo was jammed down in the magazine.

I never had a minute's problem with mine. The reason it's gone is because it's recoil and my old hand didn't get along at all, even after I made a set of fat grips for it.

Side stop has a tab on it that the mag follower impinges on to lock the slide open.
As a guess, if that tab were a bit longer, it would impinge on the rounds in the mag before the follower would get to it.

Willing to guess the factory does not load the mags and function test before shipping, so, it's a QC point that could be missed. As the stop would work just fine if tested with an empty mag.

Just a guess, though.

I had a similar problem with my GSG 1911/22 when I got it NIB. 3 different mags, same problem.
Couldn't EVER get it to strip the second round from a full mag. Sometimes it would bury the bullet into the front of the mag, which I think is what you are seeing if I am understanding correctly?
After a couple of teardowns and cleanings I figured out that the slide wasn't coming back quite far enough to catch the rim of the next round.
Maybe you need a little more lube, or break in time? Or maybe a lighter spring, or stouter ammo?
My problem eventually worked itself out.
I hope you can solve yours too.

The reason it's gone is because it's recoil and my old hand didn't get along at all, even after I made a set of fat grips for it.

Possibly because the Baby Rock .380 is a straight blowback design which can affect how much felt recoil you experience. Other small .380s, like the Colt Mustang and the SIG P238, use a delayed blowback design which helps to lessen the amount of felt recoil, making it easier on your hands and wrists when you shoot.
