Back from the gunsmith

Got this rifle for free with a silencer and an old scope so I sent it to my local
gunsmith to get a shorter barrel and threads for silencer.
Just got it back.

my guess is the SMITH wouldn't touch the silencer with out the party having a stamp.

You guys assume the OP is in the states where we're so "free" as to have to have gov't approval for a gun muffler as opposed to a country where their use is encouraged.

Silencers are sold over the counter, no tax stamp or any other papers are needed.

Its a Brno Mod.2 in .22lr

I own a dozen silencers I made on my lathe. $2000 for lathe/tools, $1200 in taxes, $480 in tubing and bar stock. Damn taxes!

From what I understand, all over Europe the use of sound supression is not only legal (as in "over the counter" legal) and encouraged, but it is socially considered somewhat bad form to shoot un-supressed due probably to the population density etc.

Viva Norway (or would that be Skol?).

The use of a suppressor in Europe is considered "proper", as the noise pollution form an un-muffled rifle tends to annoy the neighborhood. I love the justification! I am all about the ecology. You know, it's "green" to own a suppressor! Hmmmmmm............

Wonder if anyone in our Government would consid.................
