I just ordered a set of these in walnut for my S&W 640-1. 357. I'm just looking for feed back from other who have badgers boot grips on their J frame.

How do you like them as far as fit/finish goes? Also any pics would be appreciated as well thanks for any help guys.

I'm a big fan of Badger Custom Grips. I have a set of their Boot grips on my every day carry M442 and I have a set of their "regular" grips on my M640. I feel both add to the control of the revolver when shooting. Their design works very well IMO.

Here are comparison photos of the 2 Badger grips on a M642 and M640:

I like Badger's, but at the end of the day they are Dymondwood grips, which for some reason was not clear to me when I bought them (although it is marked now on several places on the badger site). For example, walnut here is "walnut colored Dymondwood" and rosewood is "rosewood colored Dymondwood", which could be a little misleading if you don't notice the difference and wanted real walnut or other flavor of the day. If you are happy with the Dymondwood, and by every measure they are a solid grip material, then they should serve you well. If you wanted walnut, however, for traditionalist or sentimental purposes, then you will have to keep looking. Also, mine developed some cracks not long after use so I traded them out. In all other respects and from anecdotal reports, they are good grips.

But, not very far.
Ahrends uses solid wood, as well as Dymondwood.
Unfortunately, no more Cocobolo. Some sort of import restriction.
I use their Boot grips on my 640 Pro and 686 snub. I get them unfinished, since I don't like plastic finishes, and I like to shape to fit, with 80 grit. Then, its several coats of Tung oil.

Best,
Rick

Here is my model 63 S&W with Badger grips. I got these at Tulsa from a lady that sets up there. I like to be able to pick out the color and grain. These fit my big hands well.
