I'll be in Bakersfield and Fresno for business this week, looking for friendly ranges in town (handgun).

I'll be travelling with my trusty Sig239 and have afternoons off, looking to kill some time and cardboard.

Thanks for any pointers to ranges in the area!

Thanks for the info. I called 5 Dogs and they told me they are members only so I went to "The Range" in Fresno. Nice place and a good way to spend some time instead of in the hotel room watching TV.

Thanks again :)

When did 5 Dogs become "members" only? I have fond memories of that place.

This may be after the fact, but there is also an indoor range in Bakersfield. It's Second Amendment Sports on Rosedale Hwy. Rosedale and Mohawk to be exact. The drawback is "GREEN AMMO" only.

The range I have gone to in Fresno is at 5151 N. Gates Ave. ( off of 99, E. on Shaw, cross tracks, behind Costco). Good range with friendly staff.

Some one mentioned Coalinga. It's one of the few in California with a 1000 yard range. But lately there have been a gazillion cows wandering all over the place--the land is leased from a cattle company.

There is an excellent Range not too far from Coalinga, in Avenal. It is owned and operated by people who love to shoot. The current president of the association is a State correctional officer. There are separate pistol, rimfire and rifle ranges. The problem with this range is that it's MEMBERS ONLY or a member's guest.

Hope you have/had a pleasant stay in our state and get/got to shoot.

OOPS

Re-read your post. You HAVE been here already. The range you went to IS a good place.
