I did a little research the other day, on how to make some semi-cheap ballistics gel to do a test on what some of the different calibers would do, and also different JHP's.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this, and if so do you have any pictures?

thanks guys.

Yep, my wife has whipped up a few batches of homemade ballistics gel for us to play with. It's not clear from your question if you want pictures of the gel or the slugs so here are some images of some big chunks of gel after being shot with Federal .308 168 gr Gold Medal Match ...

You may notice from those pictures that not all .308 rounds are created equal :) Perhaps obviously, those chunks were not big enough to retain the bullets so no pics of the slugs are available.

We did the same thing with various hollow point pistol caliber rounds (.38 special+p, .357 mag, 9mm, .40S&W and 45ACP) fired through 2 big gel blocks, placed back to back, with interesting results. The .38+p, 9mm and .40S&W slugs were all retained in the second block, with the .40s just barely remaining in the gel. The .45ACP was either retained in the first block OR bounced off the second block and came back towards the shooter for significant distances. The .357 mags slugs, of course, disappeared into the dirt berm after sailing through both chunks of gel. We never got around to taking any photos of the pistol caliber slugs we managed to retrieve so, sorry, no pics of those.
