Cartridge : Handloaded 55gr Hornady V-Max

Firearm : Bolt-action rifle with 24" barrel length

Block Calibration : 11.0cm @ 596 ft/sec (No correction attempted due to fragmentation)

Single shot was fired from 10' distance. Impacted at 3587 ft/sec, apparently initiating expansion/fragmentation at 0.25" penetration depth.

At 1.0" depth, the permanent cavity was 5.0" in diameter. Interestingly, the shape of this cavity exactly resembled the shape of an expanded hollowpoint bullet with 6 jacket segments (when viewed from the business end of the bullet). From this depth onward to the final penetration depth of 7.4", the bullet experienced extreme fragmentation, with the bullet core recovered at 0.18" diameter.

Cartridge was a handload using H-380 powder and CCI Benchrest primers.
