Ok, I am terrible at math. Never understood anything past long division. (Yep, I'm that old...) So - my request for assistance is this. I find ballistic tables for bullet drop starting at 100, but not for my particular issue and I don't know how to begin the conversion...

If I sight in my 300 Win Mag to be 5-6" high at 200 yds, what will the point of impact (bullet drop) be at 500, 800, 1000 and 1200?

Thanks for any assistance...

Lib,
I downloaded a smart-app called Strelok for my phone and a ballistic calculator for my computer. There are a lot of free apps out there. The typical information needed is bullet weight, velocity, distance to zero, and to get more precise information scope height, weather temp, elevation, humidity.

If you don't have access a computer or the internet I'll check back and run the numbers for you. You might want to post the minimal information of bullet weight, velocity, distance to zero for a starting point.

I think Hornady may have a calculator that you can use on-line.

Assuming a typical 180 gr bullet with a BC of .507 (Nosler AB) and a muzzle velocity of 3000 fps and 5.5" high at 200. Using a different bullet at different speeds will make a noticeable difference. You really need to plug in your own numbers, but you can get an idea.

At 500 -23.7"
At 800 -123"
At 1000 -247.2"
At 1200 -438.6"

I use this table, but there are others that are good. You can get even more detailed by including temperature, humidity, altitude wind direction and speed, which I did not. I simply used the default settings.

Thanks guys! (and darnit, I totally intended to mention 180 gr. spitzer at 3000 and of course, I forgot)

But this gives me the info I need.... Thanks again.
