Where can i find a longer barrel for my winchester 1200? All i have is the riot barrel it came with. I want to use this on rabbits and turkey and maybe use it on deer with rifled slugs if they shoot fine out of it. I have heard that some parts are interchangable between the 1200 and 1300 but i dont know about barrels.

With the demise of gun barrels on Ebay, you have to routinely prowl the gun auction sites and the trade area of this site. It might be just as cheap to buy an old 1200 and use the barrel, keeping the rest of the stuff for spare parts. I used to see some of the 1300 barrels going for up to $150 on Ebay. You could get a complete gun from the gun auction sites for around there or a little more. There are also a couple of sites that specialize in barrels. You'd have to search for them, I didn't mark them when I saw them. Good luck, it might take a while to find what you want at a reasonable price.

Arrgh. I have been looking for the exact opposite; I have a full-choke barrel on my 1200 and I have been looking for a modified barrel to augment it for quite some time. I have so far not been able to find anything except whole guns. What the hell? Why and how has it become more economical to buy whole firearms rather than parts? IT DON'T SEEM RIGHT.

Egun parts has them usually. Some local gun stores, will take guns in on trade. If the shotgun is unsafe to re-sale, then they will take the barrel off and destroy the rest, and have a " Barrel rack" and sell just the barrels if they are ok. Green Top here in Virginia does that. Also if it does not have to be a factory brand barrel, Hastings barrels are real good and plentiful. Hastings can be found at like Cabelas, ect.

As far as I know 1300 barrels and stocks as well as most other parts are interchangeable with 1200s. The sears Ted Williams also has some interchangeability, some fitting was required for my barrel though. Just remember that if your original 1200 is a 2 3/4" gun a 3" chamber barrel doesn't make it a 3" gun from what I've been told.

Win 1200

Take a look at the Kittery Trading Post (Maine) web site..they have a used barrel section, bought an 870 and 1100 extra barrels from them recently..Jack

Can someone expand on this at all? I have a 2 3/4" 1200... if I put a barrel with a 3" chamber on it could I hand load 1 3" round at a time? Would the gun be able to eject the 3" shell? Would a 3" shell put too much pressure on the gun???

From what I've been told they don't eject. But there has been some concern as to whether the gun could handle the increased forces. SAAMI pressure is the same for 2 3/4" and 3" however. I suspect it's mainly just being cautious but I would hate to find out the hard way.

eject no

3 " shells will not eject because the port is to short.browning auto of early vintage had 2.9/16 chambers and 2.3/4 plastic shells jam.the cure was rechamber and mill receiver port.I had one to do as I did not have tools it went to gunsmith.they will fire and 3 " will fire in 2 3/4 chambers but raise pressure.just shoot 2 3/4 shells.:uhoh::)
