How many rounds does it take to wear out a .22LR barrel? I've heard stories of over 100K rounds. Who wants to claim the record?

I know of one that has at least 80k through it. Still shoots fine. Say you go to the range with the old Marlin 60 and run a big box (500) through it once a week. Thats only 200 boxes to 100k rounds. Considering thats 200 weeks@52 weeks a year thats only four years. If a kid gets the gun when he turns twelve and shoots it a bunch, 100k by the time he is twenty is not all that hard to believe. The one I know about went from a friend's dad to him. I know we have put at least 20000 through it and that is only in the past six years.

They never wear out from shooting them.

They do wear out from cleaning them too often & too aggressively from the muzzle.

iv got a old remington targetmaster, no serial on it, its that old. handed down from my granddad to my mom to me. no telling at all how many rounds through it. iv put beter than 20,000 myself. still shoots great.

My Dad has a bolt action .22 that's at least 65 years old. He's says it's as accurate today as it was when he was a boy and he's one of the most accurate shooters I've ever seen.

I have and OLD Marlin 99 that I have no idea how many rounds have gone through it...

I have shot 20K+ myself, and I am NOT the original owner.

If Lamazza ever shows up, ask him about the Ruger standard model I showed him. My father bought it used in 1970, and it's been shot alot... No Idea on actual round count, but she's getting darn close to musket like.:D No excessive cleaning here!:

^^^I have pretty much exactly the same as that. My parents bought it in the 70s and gave it to me a few years back. It's my most accurate pistol.... It has a nice trigger too :)

The only downside is it's like a puzzle to put back together after cleaning. I normally sacrifice a kitten to the god of puzzles before I attempt such a feat.
