OK, I'm going to "build" my own SBR on a Savage action. The act of building or manufacturing it, is what requires the NFA paperwork/tax stamp. It's not built until you attach the barrel TO the action.

Sooo..... if I call up Krieger, Pac-Nor, Shaw, or whomever, and say "Please send me one 10" bbl, threaded, for a savage, in X caliber", will they do it or not, without me first showing them my approved NFA (SBR) paperwork?

In other words, what *order* must I proceed in?

Thanks.

Must they see an approved form 1 or 4 to legally sell you a barrel? No. Is it their company policy; who knows? Different companies do different things. Call them up and order and you'll probably find out.

Make certain that no other parts that will fit this "barrel" are in the proximity of the short barrel, otherwise, ATF considers that "constructive possession" and is punishable under the NFA.
