I own a commercially sporterized Mauser that my dad purchased from either Sears or Wards in the early 60's.
I've long since figured out the original source of the action; it's a Brno that was shipped to Guatemala in 1937 or so, originally a 7mm short rifle.
I'm curious about the barrel, though. It's a two groove sporter contour .30-06 with a marking of SP in an oval. Would that be a reworked military barrel or a commercial one?
Just idle curiosity. It's bright and shiny, and shoots fine. I just haven't seen that many two groove barrels.
