Has anyone ever had a barrel stud just loosen up on them? I was shooting my Uberti 1851 Navy and had only six round through it when I noticed the loading lever was mighty loose. The stud would just slide out of it's dovetail! Is there a fix or should I send it back to Dixie?

A loose dovetail can usually be fixed by peening the base of the dovetail fitting with a hammer and punch. Essentially you 'fatten' it up by causing small bumps on the bottom or along the edges.

Thanks Mykeal. My only trepidation in peening over the dovetail is that I would bend the barrel.

Don't hit that hard or use that large of hammer. You can use a center punch on the latch to raise the metal for a tighter fit. Loc-tite stud and bearing mount is good for holding loose dove tails. I think some have use jb successfully.
