Been wanting a 45ACP gas operated upper for a while now, looking at barrels I see 1-16" and 1-32" twists, thing is at some point I will probably rechamber for 45 Win Mag, I checked and my CavArms lower has room for a double stack even then. Already have a barrel extension, lathe, and a 45ACP reamer so only the barrel is holding me back. Midway has a 1-32 GreenMT for bout $80 or a 1-16 Douglas for almost $200, Brownells has a Shillen 1-16 somewhere between.

Would not be loading the 45ACP hotter than what works in a 1911/1917 as those rounds could find there way into weaker guns, the 45 Mag no problems there, might load a little soft to make the brass last if thats what it takes.

I want the long barrel for the sight radius, low muzzle blast and the A2 look, might even end up with an old A1 upper I have tucked back.
I'm really leaning to the 16 to 1 to be sure a 230 FMJ will be stable out to where ever, if that's too fast for 45win hollow cavities well FMJs will be traveling fast enough expansion won't be needed, also hoping heavier cast bullets work well.

So would appreciate input on twist rate and if somebody knows of a good enough barrel near a hundred bucks.
