Barska 25-125X88 Spotting Scope

Hi all. First I hope everyone is a good Memorial Day weekend. I'm thinking of getting a spotting scope so I'm looking for anyone using the Barska 25-125 spotting scope. I'll be shooting a 45-70 with .459 500gr cast bullets at 500yds on a Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C Target which when hit show up yellow around the hole. Any help would be greatly helpful.

Barska spotting scopes only have a 10% - 15% functional power range, if you want to consider it functional. The whole 25x125 variable power is little more than sales hype.

I just realized you said you'll be using it at 500 yds., no way that Barska will function at that distance, maybe 200 yds..

A good entry level spotting scope would be the Vortex 20x60x60 Diamond Back. I don't remember what I spent for mine, but I think it was under $400.

If you go with this scope I recommend getting the one with the angled model.

Barska scopes and spotting scopes are almost worthless. Please don't waste your money on them. I have a 20-60x one and it is junk.

The cheapest spotting scope I will go with is the Redfield 20-60x80:

You wont be seeing bullet holes at 500 yards with any spotting scope in that price range.
