the "cry once" refers to the price you pay for quality

I know what it refers to and I think it's a dumb phrase. If you're buying quality, it doesn't require any crying. If it causes you to "cry" then it wasn't worth the price paid.

I have one on a .308... varmint model that goes up to 24x..... The clarity isn't all that great, but it has held zero and adjustments are solid. I'm pretty sure it would suck in low light, but I only use it for target shooting. For what I paid, it has served me well.

I was considering a Barska for a Marlin 336. If it holds zero and sucks in low light, so what? My 77 yr old eyes and open sights suck in low light:(

I had a Barska on a 26-06 Ruger #1
It failed after the 8th shot.

Spend some money an something better

The problem is that it will work untill it doesn't. If a blown shot or failed hunt doesn't concern you then get one.
