Base Ball skinning method

I heard you could hang a pig by the hind legs, Make the usual cut to begin skinning. ie inside of each leg and pull skin to there. The get a base ball and put it in the skin. Wrap a rope or chain, hook up to truck or atv and slowly pull fprward skinning the animal.

Anybody ever heard of this?

There is a video on the internet of someone doing this to a deer. Was on the old google video, but I couldn't find it now that it is mostly you tube.

I've done it many times with deer (only if not destined for the taxidermist). You can use a rock or a golfball or anything. I use a front-end loader to supply the power but a jeep or truck will work too.

eh, pigs yes (more fatty hide), deer you loose a bit of muscle with the hide.

Or you can blow torch the hair off and butcher with the skin on, the skin gets nice and crispy on the grill. Yum

Done it with WARM deer carcasses, but used a rock instead of a baseball (didn't want to get ejected for doctoring the ball . . . ).

In a slaughter house, immediately after exiting the kill floor the carcass goes through a burner to get rid of the hair (the one part that isn't really used anymore) and then flash frozen before being dressed.

You can also leave the back feet attached to the hide and wrap a chain around the hide just above them no need for the rock.That is how we did it at my family's slaughterhouse
