I have ornamental holly bushes under my windows. The only plants that could be worse for a prowler to hide in would be a cactus bush or a rose trellis. My dog can slip right through briers but she stays away from the ornamental holly.

I put a 1600 lumen light on my shotgun. I can control the light with my thumb in the dark. There is enough light in my house from my outdoor security lights to see who is in the house. The light is just to blind the attacker/s and nighttime predator hunts. If I have my pants on I have a gun on me. Plus I have a gun in the pouch on the side of my recliner. The only way I won't have a gun on an attacker/s in a few seconds is if I panic trying to decide which gun to grab.
