I know the basics of a S/A vs. D/A revolvers but I have a question needing to be clarified.

My friend recently told me he shot a revolver where after it was fired once, the hammer was automatically cocked, making the next 5 shots easier to pull. Is this considered a S/A revolver?

Also in regards to the hammers on revolvers, what if the hammer got accidentally snagged and struck the primer? Are there safety measures built into revolvers, that are equivalent to the half-cock on 1911's?

Regards,

Believe that'd be an "automatic revolver", like the Mateba or the (rare) Webley-Fosberry.

In a conventional modern revolver, as long as the trigger is not held back it will not fire.

Right. Look up the terms "transfer bar safety" and "hammer block safety" around here. Any modern DA has one or the other, and a few popular SAs do too.
