What battery life can I expect on a maglite 2d LED flashlight? I have 2 duracells in there.

Who knows.

I put new batteries in mine over a year ago and it is still as bright as it ever was.

I use it every night several times scouting the outer fringes of the back yard for varmints.

32 hours of constant on use with an initial brightness drop of about 25 percent or so as it heats up in the first 15 minutes. After this you will have a beam much brighter then the stock incan version for a solid 32-34 hours before it drops into a still useable dim moon mode.

These are my findings. Standard quick uses will likely net you a bit more runtime and normal use will probably last you a year or so.

Thanks Cslinger id read about the dimming problem due to poor heat sinking you can mod the maglite pretty cheap to get brighter led that doesn't dim and I think the batteties will still be as good.
