It's a one and a half to two hour drive from Campbell, but Louis Awerbuck teaches a course every year at Turlock in the central valley.

Walt Marshall is highly recommended. The Awerbuck classes have been of an advanced nature most years and have many prerequisites.
I like Yavapai Firearms Academy (Louis Awerbuck) he is a stunningly efficient instructor.

Halo sounds good. Wont go to the Reeds range. Had some problems with someone who worked there. Acouple of years ago. So I shoot other places.

I have checked out their web site. I don't see a cost for any of the classes. The website says they only take pre-organized groups or individual training. Of the people in this thread who have been to HALO, did you go alone or as part of a group? Is it possible to call HALO and get in on a group that is training there?

Go to the HALO Group website, and click on "Chuck Taylor 2004 Course Schedule - Now Available". It will give you all the info you need.

If you want to take any of the other HALO Courses listed, get ten people together and we'll run most any of the Courses for you. HALO Courses generally run $150.0 per day for groups of ten.

Chuck Taylor is an exception, but it's Chuck Taylor.

I found the guys there very helpful and informative (and got to meet Presscheck).
I would very much like to go to the Chuck Taylor seminar,but works been slow.
I start a new job on Tuesday ,so I won't rule it out!

There's a tactical pistol class/match on 1st and 3rd Sat from 6:30-midnight at the 10th St. range in San Jose.

I went last month for the 1st time. Range is immediately south of the stadium on 10th St in San Jose, up against the parking lot. The guy instructing on the night I went was an LEO from the East Bay. All shooting was done out of the holster. Drills involved shooting from cover, reloads, shooting while moving, and lots of yelling at paper targets to drop their weapons. Did a little firing w/ a team member as well--provide cover while the other reloads; that sort of thing. A lot of the scenarios had targets that you weren't supposed to shoot mixed in. The instructor was a very attentive guy and did a good job of teaching and observing. Occasionally, they'll have a shotgun night or shoot by flashlight. They scored by time and hits, and IGK (I got killed) gets zero. I think the 1st Sat of the month is a little more casual--sort of a clinic--and the 3rd Sat is scored a little more vigorously.

Cost was $20. I went through ~150rds.
