I received my latest issue of "Shooting Times" and there is was, a CZ advertisement for a factory option to mount a bayonet; and it comes as a factory kit. So what think you?

Can I answer straight up no? I'm thinking a bayonet on a handgun is a worthless idea. Anyway if the BG get's that close, you have bigger problems.

Could Shooting Times have made an error and posted a April Fools Day piece early?

I have a CZ 75 P-01 that needs this. :D

Either they party a bit at CZ and use the suggestions created during their parties or there is one gullible person there. "Hey Bill, we think we need a bayonet mount for the 75 family. You want to design it for us?"

Is a bayonet mounted on a carry weapon legal in most states?

I'm going to have to buy one for the CZ. My older CZ can't take the blade, but it's all for fun. Anyway, useless though it may be, I've got one for a Webley Revolver.

Originally it was a gag for a promotional advertisement for their P01 handgun. But people kept asking where they could get one of them, so CZ started making them availible.

 This again.

This appears to be some sort of attention-getter thing from CZ. I've seen them in the flesh and I'm going to get one for my CZ SP01. Just to have. Like just about anybody else, I see no need or use for this particular accessory. The accessory is actually composed of 2 things: a tactical block and the bayonet. The bayonet comes off the tactical block. There might be some very narrow, limited use for the tactical block.

How long before someone writes a mall ninja CCW story about this?

It wouldn't be complete without Mr. CCW confronting the BG shouting out:

"FIX BAYONETS!"

Once he corners the bad guys it's time to crow:

"WHAT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE BAYONET?"
"THE SPIRIT OF THE BAYONET IS TO KILL!"

:D

Heck, maybe I should write that...

Arrrgh, Just the thing for pirates and boarding parties in the days of single shot pistols -- just a bit over 200 years too late.

I believe "cutlass pistols" are displayed in museums.
