I've been unsuccessfully been looking for some sort of holster that I can attach to my waterbed.
The only holsters I've yet found really seem made for a traditional bed w/a box spring.
I need something that can be drilled/attached to the wood sides.
I don't have a nightstand at present, but my bed is positioned in such a fashion as the gun/holster would be in a descret position(away from the door)...any ideas?

If you are going to drill into the wood on your bed, you can also drill through the paddle of a cheap paddle holster. Fobus or Uncle Mikes kydex holsters would work great.

Where can you find those? Sounds interesting.

Thats what I may end up doing, though was hoping for a slightly more attractive solution(though it probally would not be too visible).

Just trying to imagine how it would exactly fit/work for me...

thx

Does it have a bookshelf/headboard? If so, that opens up a lot of options.

Yes there is.
Currently filled with books(could be moved to closet). But isn't really deep enough. I tried stashing it in, but the gun I want the holster for is a Beretta 92- not a terribly small gun.
Tis another option though...

Fobus makes one especially for mounting to furniture. I don't have a source for you though. I think it might be ideal for your needs.

Some will have seen me write this before ... but no apolagies cos I think it can help (just MHO).

I think access is all ... and having your piece in a drawer, in a holster ... in a box, whatever ... prejudices recovery time.

I do tho like my piece to not show. So - when I undress, the piece is removed from carry holster and placed on the floor .... just below where my dropped hand would fall when lying down. It is also positioned such that it faces down to foot of bed and butt is outward ... it is if you like ... all ready to come to hand.

It is then far enough under so that covers all but conceal it. Think about this ... if heaven forbid ... you had an intruder ... who had made it as far as bedroom, and maybe with a flashlight too ..... would you want to be reaching for a holster, drawer etc .... or have the piece on full display on nightstand? Not for me!

Instead, I have the means to drop my arm over side and retrieve quickly, easily and almost unnoticed.

Each to his own but - I really feel this about as good as it gets ..... unless kids in house then .. maybe you have to take that into account and be more secure.

My waterbed has drawers under it, and my weapon is in the drawer right under my head. It's fairly handy, but I like your idea better. A holster attatched to the side would give much quicker access. The only problem with that arrangement is you would be limited to one weapon. I sometimes put different guns in the drawer, depending on what I've been shooting a lot lately. A 1911 isn't going to fit the same holster as a model 19.

Why do you want a holster?

Can't you just stash it next to a book?
I could, but I guess I just have some safety concerns with that- I usually wil when going to bed put my phone & tv remote on top of the books and I'd hate to be grabbing one of those two and grab my gun instead or vice versa. Also it just doesn't seem as secure to me...I dunno...for the interem it is just sitting on the top of the headboard slightly out of view.
A holster would be nice so I could keep the gun there 24/7 with it out of view.

That is currently looking like the best option atm.

You think it takes that much more time to draw it from a holster attached to the bed vs. reaching down for it? Being groggy from sleep I'd probally be reaching around for it instead and take a few additional seconds to find it.
My hope/plan was to have the holster positioned so that it would not be visible without walking all of the way around the bed, but I agree having it on display for an intruder probally isn't the best idea. :)

thx for help

There's a guy at our local gun shows who sells a contraption for holding a flashlight, cell phone and any holster to the sideof your bed.
I can't recall the brand name right now but they're about $20.
I was thinking of buying one two weeks ago but he left before the show was over.

I'm going to the show tomorrow (Sunday 2/15) and I'll check and get more info.

You might like what I use. Go to this site: www.self-defend.com

Because it comes with two sizes of holsters, you will likely have one that fits your Beretta as well as a 1911. I usually keep a S&W model 586 in mine. Very convenient.

The thing thery sell up here fits between the mattress and box springs.
It has a loop for a flashlight and a long, wide "bar" the will hold a cell phone and any type of belt holster.

They look like they'd work quite well. At $19.95 each I think I'll pick one up next show. I would have gotten one today but he's the kind of dealer that bugs out early.

Uh, well, see the deal is that with the package in addition to the L-shaped board that fits between the springs and matress that he does not want, you also get a couple of holsters with velcro on their backside along with several industrial-strength wide velcro strips. These can be used to attach the holster separately to almost any flat surface. Without much imagination, they would do the job of screws that was talked about in another post. However, you wouldn't necessarily know that the velcro attachments were in the kit unless you bought the kit as this is not real plain from the web site.

HTH,

I use a Bianchi M12 military flap holster. With just two nails you can hang the holster by the belt attachment. One advantage is that you can instantly uninstall it. I do keep the flap unsecured.

I have a left hand IWB holster that will clip to my bed frame on the right side. Seems right for the job, I originally bought it intending to use it has a quick slip on bump in the night holster, but it's a cheapy and doesn't retain the gun well even just walking with it. I will probably end up putting a Mak in there or something else like that which I won't worry to much about dinging up the finish on.

Ah, my bad then. Sorry and thanks for the clarification. That info might be useful to Ridgeway as well.

indeed, thx

good options posted thx for the help :)
just deciding which now

Just don't forget to clean it very often.

You'd be amazed at how much dust/lint type crap will most definitely accumulate on anything kept near a bed.

I know...I keep both my 12ga and a G30 right by my bed.

I've been considering something like this too, but don't really see too big a need. For now, the pistol is fine on my nightstand. :)
