My powder dispenser decided to stop dispensing
(still haven't figured it out - it's just a Lee - on my pro 1000
no the powder isn't wet - I emptied it & put new powder in
yes it's turned to the "on" position)

I got a .223 rem case stuck so bad it ripped the base off & I had to send the die back to Lee.

And it's pouring like heck out so I can't go to the range to blow off my frustration! :banghead:

Well I guess it could be worse - I'm still upright & suckin' air. ;)
 
It's hotter than Hades here in Bama this week. Folks have hammered me for two days about air conditioning. "Yes ma'am, we're working on it." (and the 14 other broken ones she doesn't care about ;))

So no gun problems, just a truckload of broken A/C's and unhappy women. One told me this morning to stop saying yes ma'am and just get it fixed!

I had planned to go to the range after work and had loaded the range bag in the FJ this morning. I was so drained and it was still so hot this afternoon when I got to leave the hospital I just went home instead.

But like ya said, I'm still upright and breathing.......

Maybe I'll get to shoot the 27-2 I traded for this Sat tomorrow. :)
 
One of my co-worker used to say when things were going bad...
"It'll go along like this for a few weeks... then all of a sudden it'll get worse"

"It" happen many times during our time working together!

By the way there are many threads on here about how to extract a stuck case... for <$.30... a self tapping metal screw and a socket, your case could have been free or better yet, your die!

Walkalong - I HEAR ya - I'm in north central FL - 99 degrees actual, humidity at 80% or more, heat index running in the 109 range............shot sporting on Sunday - went through 4 liters of liquid without the need for a bathroom break.

As to the scale and powder measure - my RCBS 5-10 and powder measure have been running fine - even in my garage where it is averaging 110 degrees
 
I bent down to pick up a dropped Primer...and my glasses fell out of my Shirt pocket, and skittered a ways under the Loading Bench...bent down further to get them, Pen falls out.

Reach over, bent down, to get them both, got them gathered, started to straighten up, hit the back of my head on the underside of the Bench.

Lol...


Not as bad as your situation, but, funny, none the less...

I've done that!

After, I considered that things could have been worse. I could have straightened up under the press mounting bolts...

Retrieving things from under the bench and then bashing my head on the linkage toggles of my Rockchucker or Classic Cast....Always a joy!

Tried that & it ripped the bottom right out of the brass
 
Lube may have waned by the time I re-sized that case. But I was in the middle of resizing a box of 50, so you would think that there would still be lube in the die from the previous case.

OUCH! I got a few cases stuck because I am stupid, but it never happened. Stuck cases are very easy to remove with lee dies: Remove the top bolt, allign the decaping pin in the case hole, use a hammer and tap lightly on the rod. As soon as the case begins to move it gets a lot easier.

When the new guys ask what equipment to buy I usually add a stuck case remover to their list. I think most everyone is going to need it eventually if they load often enough. I had mine for 3 decades before I ever needed it.
 
I'm sure there is something more frustrating then having a stuck case and no puller. I just haven't been able to find it yet. :D
 
I already had a 1/4-20 tap on hand so I went to the hardware store and bought a cap screw (Allen head hardened) a few washers, and made my own for about $4.00 or so. I have already used it twice, now I use less Lyman spray lube and more of the Hornady unique sizing lube....or is it wax? Anyway, the fix was pretty small in price. I threaded the die upside down in the Rock Chucker, drilled the primer to the right size hole, tapped the now-larger primer hole to 1/4-20 used a socket just the right size and a washer and used the threads being motivated by the allen wrench to back the shell out of the die. It is an exercise in patience, and now I lube better so I don't have to do it again!

Mr. Murphy came calling here this week too:

Loading 30-06 - everything going along well up to bullet seating. Forgot the seating die isn't like the sizing die, and screwed it down to far. Cammed the press over on 15 rounds, which utterly squashed the shoulders. LC cases, which I hate to throw away. Sooo...read the directions on the dies again - doh. Pull down 15 rounds, save 15 bullets, 15 powder charges. Now I deprime 15 live primers, only to toss them in the trash. Resize 15 cases, reprime 15 cases, and recharge 15 cases. Come up with 14 pulled down bullets...***? So...now there's a loose bullet rolling around on the bench somewhere's.
Now I have a 3/4's full tray of primers, and an odd number of bullets left in the box, which really gets my OCD cranking... Thank God tomorrows Friday - I'm going to shoot these babies, and start all over again... And work the other day- even worse... Let's just say I'm on my 3rd ladder truck of the week. And I only work 2 days a week.

Gettin' Better!

Lee sent me a brand new .223 resizing/depriming die.

The paper work said they;

1. got the stuck case out,
2. reconditioned the pin holder
3. replaced the pin,

But the last line said replaced die.
So something must have either scratched the die or made it out of spec.

Found a new scale at MidwayUSA for only $20.
