Been away... updates as to AWB, THR, etc?

It's been about 3 months since I've been here on THR. Obviously a lot has happened that probably was talked about, the elections, the THR.org vs THR.us controversy, etc. I've been kept quite busy with my internship (criminal defense legal intern), so I have totally lost track of what's going on here. (sorry about that)

If somebody can bring me up to speed on what I've missed, that would be really helpful.

I would imagine with Obama being elected, there was probably a lot of talk about the possibility of an AWB. What was the consensus of those threads as to what to buy? I saw articles in the papers that ARs were selling like hotcakes. The LGS tells me I need not worry about things like 1911s or whatnot. Is this the general feeling people here have too? Get ARs or AKs if you want them but pistols aren't going anywhere?

Has there been any talk about ammunition issues? Last I was here the rising price of ammunition was a hot topic. I was in Walmart the other day and noticed that the prices at least don't seem to be any worse than they were the last time I looked. Similarly, was there any talk about ammunition bans, serialization, registration, or other similar topics?

Also, was there ever any resolution over the THR.org vs THR.us issue? Or is that still going on?

I hope my asking these questions doesn't push any buttons. I'm just looking for an update on what I've missed and don't want to start any arguments or flaming here. Thanks guys. :)
 
The general thing is, people are making a big deal over something that hasn't happened yet, over a guy who's said he would ban pistols if he could, and you have a scary Democrat based congress.

Everything said here is as worthwhile as spitting into a strong wind, because nobody has a clue what's going to happen.

Here's my advice: Buy what you want, if the price is right, and you aren't going to regret it.

Also, was there ever any resolution over the THR.org vs THR.us issue? Or is that still going on?

I'm thinking that until they replace this:

with further news, there hasn't been any resolution. There will also be about 30 redundant threads celebrating the resolution, which will all be subsequently locked or merged into one thread.

I just called LMT. Apparently, there is a 16-20 week backlog already. Holy smokes.
 
To be fair to everybody, I was including myself when I said nobody has a clue of what's going on.

I could be totally far off spittin' in the wind and tugging on Superman's cape, for all I know.
 
What I can at least add to THR, is that over the last 3 months, I've gotten pretty friendly with some local prosecutors. They all seem to be in agreement that an AWB is entirely worthless when it comes to curbing crime. So, to all those who say that DAs or SAs are all anti-gun and clueless, it seems to me at least, that the folks here at THR give them way too little credit... because they definitely seem to "get it" just like us pro-gunners even if they aren't pro-gun people themselves. Based on my observations, I would lump the average prosecutor into the "neutral" category when it comes to guns.
 
There has also been an influx of anti gun members claiming to be pro gun. They'll post lengthy diatribes about how Obama is progun. Or for some reason hijack a thread to explain why we NEED universal health care. Oddly their shenanigans never seem to result in a locked thread.

I'm not sure but there are a LOT of them. Some claim to want "common sense" gun laws. Others simply say that they are pro gun but then vote for anti politicians because they want some communist handout.
 
Let me summarize: Obama was elected, Democrats have nearly a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Translation: we are all screwed after the economy recovers. :what:

Glad to hear you were being more productive than some of the people here!

On a similar note, I'm applying for a criminal justice internship with the ATF... that's new... :)

Other than that, the same ole "Help, the police violated my civil rights....again", "what gun for SHTF", and "I bought a NIB Sako rifle for 200.00, did I do good" threads. You didn't miss much.

Not sure if they're related or not. A lot of them seem to have registered by november, or some even as early as August. Not sure if its one person or a group of people. They like to start threads about "common sense gun laws" but seem to make sure they have a record of sorts of making legitimate posts for some time. I just hope they are cracked down upon shortly because I personally find it incredibly annoying.

How's your internship going? Is it for a BA or a JD?
