My words of advice: The 10/22 is a hole you throw money into... a great gun but stock is good enough. If you want however, buy things like a "recoil pad" if the stock is too short. So basically just things to make it personal to you. As far as ammo goes just about anything works, i prefer CCI Blazer and CCI Stinger ammo but have shot others with no problems. Other then that just be sure to read up on gun safety and also gun ownership laws for your area. (IE no guns on campus, etc) And finnaly just learning how to shoot and or have fun. Congratz on your purchase and enjoy your first step into marksmanship.

I love the Butler Creek magazines with my 10/22 all-weather carbine. The 25-rounders and the 10-rounders alike seem to function flawlessly with any ammo.

I am a fan of the Winchester "333" stuff, but it shouldn't really matter.
