Is it ok to mix two different lots of the same powder? That is I have a little VV-N150 about a 100 grains worth, that is a different lot from my new N150 bottle. Is it ok to mix them or not.

I keep reading about lot to lot variations etc... and six months ago I would have. Now I have just gone nuts I think... must be all the snow.

Yes it is O.K.

100 grains of a different powder lot mixed into 7000 grains is not going to change anything.

I do it all the time. As long as there isn't a lot of it, which 100 Grs isn't, I just mix it in real well with the next jug.

The only time it "could" be a significant issue is the unlikely combination of a very old (like decades old) can of powder with a new batch. Some powder companies could have reformulated their powders over the eons and the densities could be different. Not so much with anything relatively current.

have mixed it up, with the kilo of powder in the new bottle. And have loaded up some .22-250

I've mixed half an Hornady hopper with 8lbs of the same powder. Just shook it up. haven't noticed a difference. Guess I could chrono the load to see if it changed.....
