Bell and Carlson are middle of the road stocks. I consider the Hogue stock about equal and the Butler Creek a lesser quality stock. The B&C Medalist with the aluminum bedding blocks are pretty decent, but much heavier than I like on a hunting rifle. Same with all of the stocks with aluminum bedding.
Compared to the better quality stocks made by Brown Precision, and McMillian the B&C uses chopped fiberglass poured in a mold. The others use sheets of fiberglass layed up by hand. The others will be both stronger and lighter. Of course about 2 or 3 times as expensive as well.
I have 2 on order for a couple of rifles, so I think they are worth the cost. Should be in any day now. The McMillian and Brown Precision stocks I have on other rifles are much better, but for the uses I wanted I think the B&C will work fine.
The early B&C stocks were god awful ugly and were thick and chunky looking. They got a bad rap at that time and a lot of people do not realize they have redesigned their stocks. They are much better looking now.
