I have a leather belt that has been working fine for several years but its getting close for a replacement. Ive been considering a reinforced nylon belt. Part of the reason is because I sweat so much and thought the nylon would dry out faster than my leather belt, and I thought the nylon might not sag as much as the leather. To start off with, I was considering a cheap, fully adjustable nylon...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JU5CP9O?tag=duckduckgo-ffab-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1
Any nylon belt wearers out there have any input ?

I have both reinforced leather and synthetic belts for carry and standard leather and synthetic belts. The reinforced belts are far more comfortable and stable either OWB or IWB with a compact pistol in the holster. Be aware that stiffening webbing just by doubling it up can make it difficult to thread through belt loops vs. reinforce belts that use a sheet of material to stiffen the belt. I match the belts to the firearm and holster color to reduce the chance they're going to stand out.

It may be better to ask what others have bought and tried and worked.

I have a Bison I got from Bass Pro that isn't a carry belt, but works well for lightweight carry. I have a Proper that hasn't. My Blackhawk carry belts have been perfect.

For $14 I decided to buy the belt you listed just to find out how well it works. I'll let you know my impressions.

Sounds great. Thanks for describing your experiences, and looking forward to hearing your review.
Thanks very much.

I have a Wilderness Instructor Belt. I have the 5-stitch version I use with a steel 5" 1911 https://www.thewilderness.com/belts/original-instructor-belt/

The buckle on the Original Instructor Belt is pretty robust, and heavy. If you don't need that, the Frequent Flyer Belt ( https://www.thewilderness.com/belts/frequent-flyer-belt/ ) or their new LowPro EDC Belt ( https://www.thewilderness.com/belts/lowpro-edc-belt/ ) may be better options. I'd still recommend the 5-stitch versions. The 1.5" is the most versatile as it fits most pants that you'd wear a nylon belt with and 1.5" is the default belt slot width for most holsters.

Pay attention to the belt sizing information. They may sound odd, but they work. Don't order your jeans size, that will be wrong.

The Wilderness is pretty much the industry standard, so much so, here are a couple other places where you can buy their belts.

Sounds and looks like a quality belt. I will most certainly keep this one in mind. Thanks for the links.

I use both and both have advantages. Regarding the polymer belt, I suggest you remove it from your pants SLOWLY. Think "road rash". Don't ask me how I know.
I wont ask you how you know, lol. Im not sure how it happened but a couple of times I have pulled my leather belt off and somehow my lower back hair has got caught and it didnt feel good at all.

I have both, leather and synthetic gun belts. I find synthetic ones to be more functional and comfortable than leather gun belts. For one, they’re usually thinner than quality gun belts (my Mean Gene Leather belt is a quality work of art but slightly over 1/4” thick). So for me, they’re easier to fit through pant belt loops and holster belt loops. But their greatest functionality is their infinite adjustment ability. Unlike leather belts with holes 3/4” to 1” apart, I can adjust mine by millimeters if need be. The main complaint I have about synthetic, nylon-type belts are that they look too “tactical” for my tastes and some can be a bit of a pain to put on and adjust with Cobra buckles and velcro, for instance, but the latter is really a minor issue for me. I usually wear my synthetic belts for casual wear with an untucked shirt, so the tactical, ninja-mall wannabe look becomes moot.

With that said, here’s my opinion of the various synthetic belts I’ve collected so far:

Klik Belt 1.5” 2-ply with Cobra buckle - By far my favorite and most comfortable. Although it uses a Cobra buckle, it’s the easiest for me to put on and take off. I’ve had it for 2 to 3 years and it still looks new with no fraying, wear or sagging. Fantastic belt, but more expensive than the one in your Amazon link.

I also have a 1.75” “Duty” Klik belt that I used in a 10K Run-n-Gun biathlon. It’s stiffer than their 1.5” 2-ply belt, and very durable. I dragged it through mud and scraped it along two lengthy corrugated steel culverts during the belly crawl obstacles. My pants got torn up, but it held up like a champ. I washed it afterwards and looks good as new. Kind of stiff, though.

Volund Gearworks 1.5” Aesir EDC belt - Close 2nd and almost a tie with my Klik Belt as my favorite synthetic. The material is different from the nylon-type material of the Klik belt. I think it’s scuba diving webbing material? Seems like many synthetic gun belts are now going with this material. It’s slightly thicker but less stiff than the Klik belt. It also uses velcro to better attach the loose end. I have a love/hate relationship with velcro. While it definitely helps secure the loose end so that it’s not flapping around, it also attracts fuzz, hair and lint, is a bit noisy when unlatching and wears off over time. Volund offers more webbing and buckle colors and a g-hook buckle that I haven’t tried yet.

Liberty Gun Belts - Great webbing and thread color selection. My 1.5” No velcro EDC Liberty Gun belt with 1” Cobra Buckle is my coolest looking one (and admittedly more tactical looking, too). It seems to be made of the same, softer scuba webbing material as the Volund one. For me at least, it’s also a bit more cumbersome to put on and take off than my Klik and Volund belts, despite the narrower 1” Cobra buckle.

Uncle Mike’s 1.5” “Reinforced Instructor’s” belt - Least expensive of my collection, but it works well enough to support a holstered gun. I’ve abused this belt to no end the past couple years, and it’s still holding up. I’ve even used it to tie off and drag and pull some heavy weights across the floor to simulate drag pulls. My only complaints are that the buckle is kind of heavy and the velcro sometimes manages to scratch the skin along my abdomen when sitting down.

Hope this helps!

I am a fan of the web belts. I have both the 5.11 Tactical version and the Bison Heavy Duty. The infinite adjust-ability and velcroed tail makes for the most comfortable belt for me. They are both plenty stiff for carrying of handgun.

Some people wear the "rigger" belts (rappelling grade). I have one, but it didn't really suit me. They are pretty tacticool... I'm more Hatfield and McCoy.

Awesome reviews, descriptions, and links. You gave me several logical options. I have seen and considered those Klik belts in the past, and good to hear that its your favorite. After looking at them, and due to my disability, Im concerned about being able to feed the buckle through the loops, as the buckle appears to be wider than the belt. Thanks very much for all that information.

I will check them out. Thanks

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback.

The word "cheap" should never be used when making a decision about gun belts or holsters.
Yes sir. I will try to use words like conservative, affordable, inexpensive, or reasonable in the future. Thanks

I meant no disrespect. That comes from one with 55 years of experimenting until I saw the wisdom of buying once, crying once.
I have a closet full of cheap holsters and a bunch of belts that don't work properly.

No problem and thanks for your concern. Actually I wasnt sure if you were joking or being serious. Anyway, I too am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". For this instance it seems prudent to assess a new material at a lower cost to see if Im going to like the material. If I like it, then I would seriously contemplate a higher priced nylon belt, especially the ratchet/click belts. Members on here have definitely given me several options to choose from, attached with real world experience...priceless.
Do you have a favorite nylon belt ?

Actually, my go to web belt for AWIB is a https://www.511tactical.com/trainer-belt-1-12-wide.html
it works with my P365 perfectly and with the velcro it adjusts to exactly where I need it to be.
Heavier guns are all reinforced belts.
Sounds great, and the price is reasonable. I said originally that I sweat a lot, so I dont need a top of the line belt, but rather one thats more practical for my needs, and this just might fit the bill. I also want to get a nice looking, dressy click belt in the future, for those times like eating out, or other occasions. Thanks
I think the Wilderness Instructor is a great belt, but if you're at Home Depot the day after Burrito Night and about to make a Havana omelet in your britches, then I would offer that a similar belt but with Cobra buckle will prevent much embarassment.
Another vote for the Wilderness belts. Thanks

For $14 I decided to buy the belt you listed just to find out how well it works. I'll let you know my impressions.

I've worn the belt for a couple of days at work and 4 hours with a full size 1911 OWB.

I'm impressed for the price.

The belt works. There's been no sagging or twisting and the holster hasn't leaned out with the pistol. At this price, I ordered a second one in tan.

Be aware, though, that any plastic buckle may have trouble over time holding the belt in place, but for $14, yeah, it works.

First, thanks very much for taking the time and using your money to experiment with this belt.
I personally have never owned a nylon belt, so I might just try the low end belt to see if I like the material and its characteristics.
Though Im not decided on a specific brand, Im sure that I also want to purchase a more expensive click belt, mostly for times when my wife and I are dressed up. As far as a day to day work belt, that gets dirty and sweaty, it sounds like this will be a good learning experiment for me.
Thanks again.

OT, but I've got to say that that is one of the best pieces of writing I've seen on THR in a long time!

I've never really been happy with the thick "gun belts" I've owned. They're too stiff and not very comfortable for me, and as OP mentioned they collect sweat. A few years ago I tried out a Klik Belt, specifically the 2-ply. It does great in a carry role and still looks practically brand new, but when wearing thinner clothes like shorts the belt does tend to cut into me a little and I have some discomfort after several hours.

So my new favorite summer belt isn't a gun belt, just a nylon webbed belt from Patagonia. It's not going to do the job for a heavy duty-sized gun on your hip, but it works well for me carrying a steel framed revolver AIWB or having a smaller and lighter single stack in the 4:00 position like my P938. I've been wearing it daily since about April, it looks great, is infinetely adjustable, and doesn't slip. I found even the Klik Belt would slip just a hair throughout the day.

When it was first posted, I dismissed it because I didnt understand it. Now that you brought to my attention again, I read it again, and now I understand and think its funny. When the pain hits you and you know its time to go, time is of the essence. Lol

I've got four of these. They work just fine to carry my LW Commander.
Good looking belts. I will keep this in mind. Thanks

Understood. I have ordered the cheap nylon belt for daily routine, to see if I like nylon compared to leather. Ive also been looking at the click belts for those lesser times when the wife and I are somewhat dressed up, and there are not that many companies that I can find that offer click belts that are 1.5" wide. This is one that I found that I thought looked like it was both quality and reasonably priced. Thanks... There are several different options, i.e. leather, nylon, thickness, etc...https://www.koreessentials.com/collections/gun-belts
