I am looking at auto loaders........both these guns seem identical. My question is which one should I get? What are the advantages/disadvantages to either model. FWIW, it will be used for sporting over hunting........maybe in the future may I use it for hunting. Thanks!!

IMHO opinion, the only reason to go with the SBE is if you are considering doing some serious waterfowl hunting in the future as it will handle 3 &1/2 inchers..........the M2 tops out at 3".............you wont likely shoot many 3" rounds in sporting games......both nice guns, though.

c.latrans hit it on the head.

I would only recommend the SBEII if you are going to be doing a lot of waterfowl hunting AND have a use for 3.5'' shells (which are not pleasant to shoot even with the Comfortech recoil reducer stock on the SBEII)

The SBEII reciever is a bit longer and a bit heavier. If you are mainly going to be using the gun for sporting stuff rather than hunting, save your money and some weight and get the M2.

Quite right. Ive known a couple of people buy an SBE over an M2 - even after seeing me shoot my M2 - just because it was more expensive, so it's percieved to be "better". And 3.5" is bigger than 3" max, again bigger is better :)

Truth is, as has been pointed out, clays use 2 3/4" cartridges, hell so does pigeon shooting. You surely dont need 3 1/2" for that!
