I heard Benelli M4/M1/M1014 won't be shipped to California any more.

Can we get one shipped from an out of state gun shop and pay a local FFL transfer & dros fee?

Calif. prices for the Benelli M4/M1/M1014 are $1400-$1500. Who sells it the cheapest out of state?

nonbox,

Where'd you here this tidbit?

If you're interested, Ridgecrest Gunshop had an M1014 as of two months ago. However, that was two months ago and I haven't had time to visit since then.

I think the asking price was $1350.xx. Don't quote me on that.

Jim

If you want a CA-legal one, it'll have to be neutered anyway. No extended mag, fixed stock.

What a pile of crap. (California, not your post)

California laws aren't any harsher than the Federal ones when it comes to shotguns, other than we can't get pre-bans now.

…… The California Attorney General’s Office has recently examined the design of the Benelli M1014 Limited Edition Shotgun. Although the Attorney General has not stated that the design includes a telescoping stock such that it can be classified as an assault weapon under California law, the Attorney General has expressed some concern about the ability of the user to manipulate the stock by one inch forward and backward (even though the manipulation also involves the rotation of the stock.) The Federal Government has already informed Benelli USA that it has no concerns in the regard, however because of the reservations expressed by the California Attorney General, Benelli USA will immediately cease sale of the M1014 Limited Edition Shotgun in California. In addition, the yet-to-be-released Benelli M4 (with the same stock design as the M1014 Limited Edition Shotgun) will not be sold in California. Customers can still buy the M4 Pistol Grip and M4 Standard (with field stock).

… Benelli USA will exchange the current metal stock for a fixed synthetic pistol-grip or field stock at no charge for California residents …

Please contact Benelli USA Customer Service Manager, Craig Johnson, toll-free at 800.264.4962, extension 475, for return instructions or any question in this regard.

:cuss: the Democrats! "Oooh...it doesn't collapse, but it kinda wiggles!!! You filthy child molester!" :cuss:

AFAIK right now anything goes. They will not be illegal however Benelli will stop sending them to Cali. Not sure if you can get them from out of state from someone who has one or a dealer out of state?

AFAIK nothing mechanically, like the M1 and M3S90's, prevents you from putting the extension on other than fear of being in the pokey for ten years. It's no worse than Federal law, but you can't legally do it unless it has the standard stock.

I have one. Standard stock, cut down to a LOP that my wife and I both like, +2 extension, an M3 light w/ mount and pigtail pressure switch. Right now I don't have a sidesaddle, but I do have 5 rounds on a buttcuff.

When funnin' around I put a Bushnell holosight on it. When properly zeroed you can keep buckshot in the ring out to 25 yards.

Ok dport, I want pictures with the Eotech on it!!! :D

I wonder why literature says the shotty is only 4+1?

I gotta get a digital camera. I'm trying to convince the wife a digital camera would be an anniversary gift for her.:D

Can I buy the M1014 out of state for a lower price and pay the FFL transfer/dros fee?

Will Benelli ship the regular fixed stock version of the M4 to CA. when they become available for sale?

Is my only choice to buy the M1014 locally at highway robbery prices?

It says 4+1 because it has a magazine plug, ie the first thing I modified.

As for CA, I'm on the opposite coast, no problems of that sort here.

I bought the gun in March or April and then saw the "civilian" version Benelli was going to come out with. I was worried that I'd see them everywhere. So far I've seen no standard M4s out and about. I haven't even seen the FN autoloader, which was one of the guns on my list.

Oh and God willing, when the AWB sunsets the faux collapsable stock will be put on. The faux collapsable is pretty simple to make into the collapseable version. Just a Dremel tool away.

What do you you have to remove with a dremel to get the stock to collapse? Of course I won't do this untill 2004.

nonbox, just because you expect the nationwide AWB to sunset, don't go and start committing felonies in the state of CA.

States laws have precedence over federal ones in these matters and the Federal AWB won't affect the assault weapons ban we have in CA. These will continue to remain in effect for you and me.

If you plan on doing anything illegal, don't go discussing it on an internet forum.

I'll answer questions about the stock on Sept 14th 2004.

Remember state bans still will apply.

I called a local gun shop in Novato CA. and I was told that Benelli sent them a letter stating that they could not sell the M1014 because of the stock even though the stock is pinned and can not retract. The local gun shop in Novato CA. said they would not do a FFL transfer on the M1014.

I called Benelli customer service and they told me that there is no availability date for the regular production M4 models yet and they have not decided whether it will be available for sale in CA.

Huh? They've been for sale in CA since at least April. I think I saw my first one out there in February, but I can't remember.

Iron Sights range in Oceanside, and Discount Gun Mart in San Diego both had them. Of course since the stock won't do anything but twist, paying an extra $300 for one over an M1 didn't interest me.

Gun shops might be selling them because they did not get the letter from Benelli. Gun shops that are by the book won't sell them. Buying in CA. is a bitch.

Having worked for a gun shop in San Diego county, I'm aware of the "interesting" nature of selling guns in California. I'm also aware (since we were one of the 3 Benelli dealers in San Diego county) that Benelli only deals direct, not through distributors, so in order to sell new Benellis they had to get them direct from Benelli. It's not that I don't believe you that Benelli told you that, but I don't really give much credit to the room temperature IQ people that answer customer service lines for any company in any industry.

TechBrute,
The M4 with the stock that twists is the commemorative version not the regular production M4. The regular production M4 does not have a release date.
