Benelli NOVA price? and questions?

my firend has it for sale, he won it. never been shot. it's the black syn. Benelli, NOVA. new in box. just wondering if anyone has any experience with this gun. all opinions welcome!

and what is it worth?

New in box Benelli Novas sell for about $300.00 give or take a bit. Good gun. I haven't seen quite as many accessories for them as are available for say the Remingtons or Mossbergs, but if you like is the way it is I don't see this as a problem.
 
I sold one like that for $279 about a year ago. There's another data point for you.

It's a good gun if it fits you.

thanks guys! I will see how it fits, and decide from there. I really don't want to all all the do dads for it, just leave it stock I guess. I think it would make a good goose gun, since most of it's polymer, and won't rust.

hey cool, not too many Garret's around; but I hear a few more now, then a few years back!
 
I've handled quite a few Novas and have come darned close to buying one on several occasions. Never could quite bring myself to do it, though.

PROS: Affordable, lightweight, simple design (I like the punch designed into the mag cap), seems fairly robust, handles shells up to 3 1/2", ergos for me are decent, comes in camo and black.

CONS: Forearms typically rattle a lot, Due to the stock design and the recoil pad they don't readily allow a custom fit, "funky" looks, fewer (and costlier) aftermarket parts than the 870, only comes in camo and black, and finally... horrible triggers.

It's mainly the last thing which has prevented me from getting one. Last Fall, I spent quite a bit of time trying different Novas, trying to find one with an acceptable trigger. It didn't happen. I ended up getting an 870 Supermag.

All that being said, I know a few folks who shoot them and like them a lot.
 
I recently Bought a 870 Express super mag is synthetic black payed 289 new for it.

I was looking at the novas and talked at least 4 people that had them. 3 out of the 4 said they worked great for the first year or 2 then they started Jamming like ever other shell.

In the end I could turn down the 870's long history of flawless performance and I could find one person that had a problem with their 870s. I am just Crossing my fingers hoping that the Express is Half as dependable as the Wingmaster.
 
I currently own a Nova and have owned a couple of 870s over the years and, in my experience, they are both good shotguns. Though the Nova's "Buck Roger's" style will never appeal to me, I like its smooth action and prefer the forward location of the safety to the rear location of the 870's.But, as for the 870's "long history of flawless performance", I suggest you hop on a search engine and take a cruise down internet lane. You will learn that, like all other proven designs, the fundamentally sound 870 has had its share of complaints.
 
I love my Nova. It is so easy to clean after a day afield. Only the barrel needs clean. I have had zero malfunctions. I got mine for $290 and after tax and such, it only cost $312. Since then, I have added a B-square mount and Leupol 2-7X33 VXI scope. The only problem I saw was the rattling forend, but I used some hex screws and tightened the forend and it only rattles if shaken strenuously. Keep the gun.
