I am cought between buying the Benelli Super Nova / Super Nova Tactical and the Mossberg 590A1. I am not crazy about the remington 870 so that is off the list. The only real benefit of either I can find is that the 590A1 has a safety that is handy for a left handed shooter and a right handed shooter, which is nice because I am left handed and my wife is right handed. The Benelli's safety however isnt hard to reach for me either.

Can anyone list any pros or cons of either when compared to the other, or is it a toss up?

Either of you being able to pick it up and thumb the safety in the dark wins it for the Mossberg IMHO. I have one and love it. Don't have a Benelli so can't comment on it.

I will say I have both, and the Benelli wins it for me hands down as it will eat anything I can feed it (lead, steel, tungsten) in any length. Just my opinion though.

The only two pros that the Mossberg has is thats its easy to load fast as there is no lifter to push up and the safety is in a great place.

Other than that the Benelli is the better choice, for me anyway.

Benelli. I have both and I much prefer the Benelli. I have one of the older Novas. The forearm has some loose motion it causing it to rattle at very inconveneint times. I understand that the Supernovas have solved this. Comparing the two, the Benelli hands down. It is indestructible and I believe that it will outlast the Mossberg many trouble free years.

Well, I had a Mossberg once and I thought it was ok but I now have three Super Novas and love them all. I have one in a tactical one I'm making into a slug gun and one for my turkey/squirrel/dove gun. CIMG0150Smalldfa.gif
