After some long thinking, I've come to realize my Benelli Vinci was somewhat of an impulse buy, and my 870 can cover all of what I need a shotgun for. That being said, I want to sell my Vinci and get an AR. First I need to know what's the value of my shotgun. It's a 12ga in Real Tree AP, no scratches, all of the chokes and original case. Has only had a case of ammo through it and cleaned after every outing. It was purchased for around $1550. I thought about either trading it in at the local gun shop or a private sale. What sounds fair?

I think that the Vinci is a great shotgun, and your sale price is going to depend a great deal on how your local area values sporting-only 3" semiauto 12ga shotguns. Most Vinci's are priced at around $1200-$1300 locally, and sale tagged around $1100. I bought mine NIB for $1100 out the door.

I suspect that, at least in the DFW area, any price over a grand would prove a showstopper for most buyers.

I also paid $1100 for mine NIB. Mine doesn’t have the camo though and I don’t know what that adds to the cost. I suspect rbernie’s doesn’t have the camo either. If it does he got a heck of a deal.

If it’s within $100 of the new price, I’d probably just buy it new; regardless of how gently it’s been used.

What Maks You Want to Sell the Vinci?

You said it was an impulse buy, and that your 870 covers your needs. What does the semi-auto Vinci not do that you did not like about it? What are your shotgun needs? What do you like or not like about it?

As far as resale goes, most items only bring 25%-33% percent of MSRP on a quick sale. That being said, it is probably likely that you will only get $500 at a gun shop. They make their money on resales. In private sale, I would look at $1000 or better depending on the buyer.
