I stopped by my local gun store today looking to see if they might have a Styer M series to see how it fit my hand. They didn't have one, but I noticed a like new Beretta 21a in .22LR in the case. After a fierce ritualistic bargaining process, I bought it.

The trigger on this one is stiff and gritty. I will not use this as a carry gun, but just as a plinker. Does anyone have any tips on smoothing out the trigger?

Mine shoots the CCI Mini-Mags the best. If it's like new you may need to shoot hot rounds till it gets broke in, then it should shoot about anything you want to try.

+1, I get jams with everything other than mini-mags in my 21A.

Mine only jammed with bulk stuff for the first couple hundred rounds and now it never jams with anything. I used to shoot stingers in it but it felt like it was battering the gun. maybe mine has a softer recoil spring. no two rimfires act the same.

Mine in Computer desk drawer right now. Put 100 rounds of CCI standard Velocity Lead round nose. Thur it in one sitting over week end . Not one problem We were trying out TruRecoil Lube. This is 2nd one I have bought this year and neither have had first problem on regular ammo Other one ate up Federal Bulk ammo from walmart not even a dud round That was a surprise for Federal.
My daughters love these little 22 It good practice for the model 20 25acp. I keep it in my knock around work jacket pocket..

Well last week I bought a used 21a in 25 acp. It is a sweet little shooter. So today I saw a used 21a in 22 lr. Yup, it is now setting next to it's brother waiting to be cleaned. Oh by the way I also put a PX4 Storm in 9mm on layaway. Last week no Berrettas, this week three.

I used to own a 21a .22 and a .32 bobcat. Wouldn't really recommend either. The 21a would jam with EVERY type of ammo except cci stingers and some expensive match ammo (mini mags wouldn't even cycle) IMHO, if it can't cycle cheap ammo why own a 22?

I do understand why you bought it though. I love the look of them, if only they would cycle better. My friend had one also had the same problems as mine.

Luckily I was able to sell mine for $250 to a dumb fellow who only shot 1 test shot out of it first. Lesson learned for him :D

.22lr Bobcats are picky about ammo.

I feed mine Fiocchi 40gr Hi-Velocity ammo & it runs very smoothly (has to be 40 GRAIN HI-VELOCITY).

CCI mini-mags, stingers & velocitors work too, but the Fiocchi is $2.69 a box vs $5-$7 a box for the CCI brands.

Even hollow point Mini-Mags can jam in my Bobcat. The few times I've found solid nose Mini-Mags my Bobcat has been perfect. That's up to about 50 or 60 shots, then I have to clean the chamber. That's one downside to having no extractor, as you all know.
