Put some 44 MAG brass in the tumbler a few days ago and let it run all that afternoon. Needed the tumbler again today. Removed the brass and refilled etc. Took the 44 brass to the bench and started to deprime. Had about 75 rds done when the pin on my Lee die pops up. Took the brass out and looked at it's head stamp. Hornaday!!! They make a berdan brass??? Looked closer at the primer hole--single hole --what the??? Look real close and see another shell inside the brass. Oh yeah I tossed in about 10 of my 9X18 brass at same time as I did not want them mixing with my 9X19 stuff. Note to self--------9MM will fit inside 44 MAG do not tumble at same time.:banghead::banghead: Found the other 9 eventually as they all were also inside other brass.

I have the same problems when tumbling .38 special brass that I bought online with one firing through them. Sometimes those .22LR cases just fit inside perfectly so as to not be seen and are just hard enough to break off my decapping pin :/

That is awesome Frogo... just another example of one of those things that has to happen before you realize it can happen i suppose...

Special K, why were you tumbling 22 lr?

A couple of months ago, I spent half an hour trying to figure out what the H%#@ had happened to a half dozen 38 S&W cases. It was like the dryer eating your sock.

Note to self: Don't tumble 45 Colt and 38 S&W together, even when you do figure out where the missing brass went, it's another story trying to get it out of a 45 Colt brass when there is tumbler media wedged in there. Tweezers don't work, but the bullet puller did the trick.

Another one of those DUH!! moments I guess.

Put some 44 MAG brass in the tumbler.....................what the??? Look real close and see another shell inside the brass

.45 Colt brass is even worse. You can lose a Volkswagen in there.

When tumbling different size cases put the large mouth cases in first, the medium next, and then the small ones. That way the big cases will fill with media and keep the smaller ones out.

Anytime cases get mixed up, whether in a tumbler or just thrown in a bag/box together, there is the danger of smaller ones hiding in the larger ones. Just one more thing to keep an eye out for.
