If you want a 1911 to actually shoot, TSIS, and others, make nice GI replicas...some even have sights visible to the naked eye.
Clean GI 1911s have gone up in price in the last 10 years; have one, but only shoot it a little... have those other choices.

Good choice. I shoot my Springfield GI clone 1911, it shoots like the originals, except it’s not 100 years old and loose.

If you did want a Beretta, ask yourself why and pick accordingly. 34/35 have WWII history. 81/84 are better guns and could do very nicely for carry and range use today if you are so inclined, but do have marginal calibers for it. 1951 would be my pick to take to the range. Soft shooting, cheap, and effective ammo. But no history to speak of.
