Just picked up a 21 today, IMO too good of a deal to pass up (I hope). $102 OTD for a 90-95% condition. What are the opinions and experiences with these ?

Nice little mouse gun. Very choosy with ammo. CCI Mini Mags is the only ammo that never gives me any problems.

The ones I've played with in .22LR have been very finicky. Apparently, (IMHO) they like to be clean and fed only what they like. One the other paw, the .25ACP Berettas have a much better reliability rate IME.

Fun little gun -- Cordex is right on -- gotta keep 'em really clean! Good price. Step up to the Tomcat (3032) in .32 ACP next to complete your mousegun collection ... they're a kick, too.

Easy to carry when you can't satisfy Rule 1 any other way. I keep finding myself sticking mine in my pocket all the time. Does pay to use high energy ammo.

Concur with JBP, CCI Mini Mags. Wish I could find some wood grips for it to play with. Maybe shave off a little width.

Mine functions reliably with anything I feed it. Never had a problem with it.

I installed Pearce neoprene grips.

You'll discover that misfires are difficult to clear. The pistol has no extractor, and the rimfire firing pin swages the cartridge to the barrel breech. You either have to pry it out or insert a rod down the bore to push it out. It's for this reason I don't suggest it as a defense gun.

I hope you have as pleasant experience with yours as I've had with mine.

Cheers!

That is a fun gun! I agree with everything that has already been said. The Stingers work really well in it if you are carrying it for defense (I'd recommend bigger) or just want a really good load. I bought one for myself and one for my boss. I carry it on the desert trails here in AZ. I wouldn't hesitate buying another.

I love mine. Just like the others who mentioned it, mine requires a hot round to cycle. Stingers are good.

Does it seem to you guys that this is a design defect? I mean if it won't cycle on standard ammo, it would seem that Beretta would come forward and do something. Right?

It does what it's supposed to do. I use stingers, and it hasn't failed yet. By that I mean absolutely no malf's of any kind. (I did polish the ramp and chamber).

I gave it to my bride, as she can't rack a slide, so the tip-up barrel feature works for her. She knows what to do with it if necessary.

It was worth the money.

Personally, I am a huge fan of the OLD .22 short Minx with CCI MiniMag HP - from the 70s and likely very little resale value; they are accurate, reliable and with the CCI-MM-HP we found the same speed, with more accuracy and better expansion than the .22 LR of that era.

Since that, these new ones are much thicker, far less reliable and very inaccurate comparatively speaking. My suggestion, if you like it, keep it and look for a 70s era Beretta Minx and lots of the above ammo.

I worked in a Florida gun shop at the time that catered specially to law enforcement. I would show the accuracy, reliability and chrono at the range.... and sold about 400 to police in less than a year - for flat little BUGs with phenomenal, thus fun, accuracy.

There is also a very rare and phenomenally accurate long barrel model that raises the velocity about 200 fps if I recall:

I have had several of the newer in both .22 and .25 and was not satisfied enough to keep them past the first trip to the range and I tried MANY... hoping against facts...
